PEWSEY

LOCATION AND CONNECTIVITY

Pewsey is a wonderfully well connected Wiltshire village, sitting in the heart of the beautiful Pewsey Vale and surrounded by rolling countryside, chalk downs, canal walks and pretty rural villages. It offers that highly desirable balance of village life with everyday convenience, making it popular with families, downsizers, commuters and anyone looking for a slower pace without feeling cut off.

One of Pewsey’s biggest advantages is its railway station, with services into London Paddington in just over an hour, making it a particularly appealing option for those who need access into London while enjoying Wiltshire life. The village is also well placed for Marlborough, Devizes, Hungerford and Andover, with wider road links available for those travelling further afield.

For anyone who loves countryside but still needs practicality, Pewsey is a brilliant base.

LIFESTYLE AND THINGS TO DO

Life in Pewsey is all about fresh air, community and countryside. The surrounding Vale is breathtaking, with walks across the Pewsey Downs, along the Kennet & Avon Canal, through nearby villages and up towards the area’s famous white horses. The Pewsey White Horse is one of the village’s best loved landmarks, looking out across the Vale and adding to the area’s distinctive charm.

For walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts, this is a very special part of Wiltshire. There are wonderful routes nearby, including countryside paths, canal towpaths, bridleways and routes taking in views across the Vale of Pewsey and Marlborough Downs.

The Kennet & Avon Canal is close by too, offering peaceful towpath walks, waterside pubs and picture perfect weekend wandering. This is the sort of place where life can feel beautifully rural, yet still wonderfully connected.

SHOPPING AND DINING

Pewsey has a good range of day to day amenities, including independent shops, cafés, pubs, a supermarket, pharmacy, post office and useful local services. It has a proper village centre feel, where you can pick up everyday essentials, stop for coffee, meet friends or enjoy a relaxed meal without needing to leave the village.

Nearby Marlborough and Devizes add further choice, with boutique shopping, weekly markets, restaurants, cafés and larger amenities within easy reach. The combination of Pewsey’s local convenience and the wider offerings of neighbouring market towns makes it a highly practical place to live.

SCHOOLS AND EDUCATION

Pewsey is well served for education, with Pewsey Primary School located within the village on Wilcot Road. It is a popular choice for local families and forms an important part of village life.

For secondary education, Pewsey Vale School is also located in the village, offering education for pupils aged 11 to 16. There are also further schooling options in the surrounding villages and nearby towns, including Marlborough, Devizes and the wider Wiltshire area, giving families a range of choices depending on age, preference and catchment.

COMMUNITY AND LIVING ENVIRONMENT

Pewsey has a wonderfully strong community spirit. It is large enough to offer useful amenities, clubs and events, yet still has the warmth and familiarity of village life. There is a lovely sense of people coming together, whether through schools, local groups, sports, markets, charity events or the much loved Pewsey Carnival.

The village is surrounded by some of Wiltshire’s most beautiful countryside, giving residents access to big skies, long walks, open views and a genuine connection to rural life. It is the kind of place where you can enjoy a morning dog walk along the canal, pop into the village for essentials, commute into London when needed and return home to peace and space.

WHY WE LOVE PEWSEY

Pewsey is one of those rare Wiltshire villages that offers so much more than first meets the eye. It has countryside, community, convenience and connectivity, all wrapped up in a setting that feels welcoming, established and full of life.

We love the fact that you can step out into glorious countryside, enjoy independent local businesses, catch a train to London, join in with village events and still feel part of a genuinely friendly community. Pewsey has heart, history and a brilliant sense of place, making it a truly special location for anyone looking to enjoy the very best of Wiltshire living.
